Alternate game thoughts

There are a few ideas I have floating around and wondered if any of you had any preferences.
The first idea is it'd play like an action game, punchout pretty much.
The second idea is it'd play out turn-based RPG style, but instead of selecting moves you'd have a set time limit to pull of punches and combos and then deal that damage at the end of your turn in one display.
Or maybe instead of a timer you'd have action points? What do you guys think?

I think hat could be an idea but I wouldn't want it as scripted as that. I'd like the player to feel like they could pull of all sorts of moves and combos if they wanted to

that latter idea makes me think of the action sequences in Telltale games, a prompt that you have to quickly enter or else things go badly for character
