Yes, I tested out with the freshly downloaded Windows build. Navigate into the www folder and copy your saves folder from the previous version, replacing all the files in the directory.
Is that all? I've tried doing this but the only option I get is to make a new game.

Sure thing, just copy your saves folder into the new release and replace the default one. This way you'll transfer all your saves and settings.
Is there a way to save your progress when a new update comes out or do you have to restart?
