That beard gave me a jumpacare. I like the look! It's a reminder that everyone's human.

Always read the plaque, as 99%invisible would say 😀

that last thing you said; that's what i needed to come away from this video with. thank you. i'm going to stand atop the willamsburg bank building and get into a laser sword fight with someone on the empire state building. not even from a height perspective, but because brooklyn over everything.

True, but Edmonton’s got ………….. uhh McDavid?

I'm concerned Calgary may be a tesseract of liminal spaces.

(My key doubt is whether there are any buildings high in the Los Angeles part of the San Gabriels.)
KevinR
Hmm. That tiny building might be twice as high as anything in a large city (say, million population) in Canada or the US (outside of Alberta). Looks like CN Tower and Sears Tower might be next, both at about 630m. Denver proper isn't a million (but the metro area is), and lots of Mexico is even higher, so this is a rather narrow definition.

I am supremely enjoying these patreon videos.
FoldableHuman
-.- I already know where it is and have the car packed

"The City of Calgary’s Top Hill Reservoir is located on the prominent “kame” or morainal knoll feature at the south end of Section 28. This 14.4 acre parcel is owned by the City of Calgary." that is, indeed, what it is.
James Rule
Very cool. Now go find the lowest point.

Begrudgingly I must admit that Calgary has the high ground...
FoldableHuman
Oooh, good theory! Maybe I'll ask the city.
FoldableHuman
That's really interesting!

Huh, Calgary (on average?) is 0.4 km higher than Edmonton (and .2 km above Red Deer). . . anyway, the highest point in Edmonton is Southwest Highland at 716 m, but the best view is imo at the corner of 75 St. NW and Ada Blvd NW. It's right on the edge of the river valley—gorgeous. Still, nuts that's Edmonton's highest point is 582 m lower than Calgary's own.

So when we getting the video being sacrificed to the Convergence installation?

I didn't sign up for this patreon to get beard envy, but I'll take it
Damp Squid
Dammit Dan, save some beard for the rest of us.
Jason Scott
In my head canon, the last series of simple patreon videos are breaks from doing a youtube essay that's so dark and so deep that Dan needs to do these to stay sane.
Burt Hagman
Damn dude, that beard is thicc
Lauren Steely
Just speculating here but it’s possible that Calgary has the highest lowest point of any major Canadian city

Long-distance moose is better than no moose at all!

Is it a reservoir to provide water pressure for the city? The highest point in the city would be a good location for that.

Now ya gotta calculate the curvature of the Earth between yourself and your Brookfield nemesis.
