We're dealing with the hottest days lately, so I'm mostly spending my time just waiting and wishing for cooler days. I'm more active during night and midnight hours cuz then it's finally under 25°C degrees and my room doesn't hold 30°C temperature (not even my fan can save me).
The sketch seen above was made during chill hours not long ago, when I was finally not sticking to everything around me.
After I got an ask comment at pixiv on my last drawing (my 2nd BL2 piece), the person was asking if I'm still doing Venom × Spidergwen at all. I checked and realised I haven't published anything related to them outside of patreon for 1 year now. So yea, I thought it's time to make this lil introduction comic to the rest of my set. :'d
I was thinking I'll try to make this lil 2 paneled comic in a simple, sketchy style. So far I'm really struggling with Venom's anatomy, and looking at Gwen, she ain't that right for me either..
This wip pic is still missing the "phone" from Gwen's hand, which is a key element for the rest of the set, also I plan to feature Carnage and Femvenom on the magazine that Venom holds there (coloured blue, atm).
Working on this made me think, I really need some good 3d models of these characters.. xd that would help a lot and fasten up my work in multiple ways.

One reason I kept holding back working on this comic is that I couldn't imagine properly how the situation would look like. So even in sfm, I checked multiple angles and poses. I also thought I shouldn't put much thought into it, but still, it has to have a look somehow. :'d
Oh, I also did move Gwen closer to Venom, so the pic wouldn't be that wide, and would be more "natural"(?). Altho that sofa is a bit in the way and all...
I'll try to keep in mind the style of those nice daily-life comics from pixiv. They look so simple and good and full of story and expressions. They always motivate and inspire me a lot.
Also I'm making this pic differently than the others before, in a way that I keep looking at it zoomed out, seeing the full pic and not switching between zoomed in and out views of the sketch. Not even when I need to use the eraser, I won't zoom in.. xd Kinda fun for a challange and a change in working method.
And to finish this post, lemme tell ya, I still have to pause a bit whenever I load up Venom and Gwen's model into sfm. Seeing the size difference just amazes me. xd

pfff ohyou xD SFM is short for "Source FilmMaker" which is more like a 3d animation making program than for 3d modeling. It's a free program on Steam, made by Valve and all the promo videos the corp has made were made with this program. It's here: https://store.steampowered.com/app/1840/Source_Filmmaker/ People say it's dated and all, but if it's still works and useful for people, then it is still good. There's also a workshop for it on steam where you can get models that were uploaded by others, which are strictly sfw, of course. For nsfw models, you have to go to a website called SFMlabs.com and manually put the files into the correct folder. There are tons of tutorials for this program on youtube, and some talented people still manage to make so good posters and pictures with this, you might think it's official art. Usually after sfm, people go over to Blender, which also can be found on Steam aswell, and it's also for free. https://store.steampowered.com/app/365670/Blender/ That program is way more challanging, but at least, it's a true 3d modelling program where you can also create models. (The famous Samsung assistant AI was made with this program too, btw.) As much as I wanna get into Blender, sadly there aren't that useful tutorials for it, nor the people I wanted to ask for help were that generous in providing enough information. So that's def a more tricky thing than sfm. (also there are more models for sfm than blender) I've only used sfm for posing and checking out models for details, never for animation. So for me, it's enough atm.

Question as I kept reading about it. What is SFM? Is that the program you use for the 3D modeling? I use a program called easy pose for my drawings as a base but if I can expand to a program like yours I know I can improve sooooo much more. Also I love the idea of the small comic as you mentioned. Seeing how it is looking as well as what you mentioned I think I have an idea what Venom is looking at and what Gwen is pointing out. 😂
