THIS! I agree with everything you said! A lot of people have been speculating SA, but I don’t think it’s that. I think it’s internalized homophobia. And I think that he actually had a thing for Onyx too but was bullying him because he was projecting his feelings. When he saw Lynx and was attracted to “her”, he probably felt relief that he liked someone who was female and can be considered ‘normal’ which is why he was so aggressive in trying to get ‘her’ to like him, and then later freaked when he found out it was Onyx all along. Oof, my heart hurts for Axel. He must have had a really rough childhood 🥺

Kudos to Kai for not trying to push things further, even if Axel was turned on. Despite being aroused, there was clear discomfort (probably fear, too) in Axel's eyes due to him likely feeling embarrassed/ashamed of his natural reaction. Kai is a guy, and in Axel's mind, it's "wrong" to feel this way, and I'm almost certain it's from his upbringing. I always thought Axel had internalized homophobia from what was probably an abusive and bigoted household. His constant bullying of Onyx was him projecting big time, and likely from his father (maybe even both parents) instilling homophobia and hatred in him towards being gay. I'd even guess he was showing early signs of liking boys from a young age and his father likely tried to "beat the gay away" every chance he got, and from the slightest sign of his son being/acting queer. I feel like this is definitely the beginning of Axel's journey to self-acceptance (which will be rough for him for sure), and I think Kai will slowly help Axel to open up about his feelings, not to mention accept who he is.

I can honestly imagine axel internal struggle from the moment Kai undressed to now. He didn’t like that Kai was getting undressed because it made him feel funny but he didn’t want to seem like he was overreacting or being silly by keeping on wet clothes. He was conflicted with the relief of feeling Kai’s warmth when he held him. His brain started trying to shut off when Kai was breathing in his ear (imagine his brain telling him “shhh let this happen!”). From then he was struggling with being intensely turned on by kai being so turned on and having a hard time resisting. Which was likely really frustrating. I feel bad for him.
