I actually like Graven, but I honestly find the marketing tying it to hexen baffling. Hexen was Doom with melee combat, an inventory system and a hub world, Graven on the other hand plays more like an immersive sim lite, imho. It reminds me more of Ultima Underworld or even Deus Ex than Hexen.

Amid Evil was more of an Unreal/Quake tip of the hat. It wasn't hub-based except for the main Episode select, much like Quake.
