I hadn't even thought about the fact that what makes helldiver so good is actually the story... Sure there are some awesome mechanics, tight and fun game play, but plenty of live services have done that. What makes the game so constantly appealing is the fact that the story ties so well into those mechanics that you can't help but anticipate the next change. I'm more excited about the random ai glitches getting posted that seem like intentional hinting arg elements of what might be coming than any road map shown off telling me all the future fun I might have if I just keep grinding and maybe spend a few more bucks on micro transactions.
