Second Wind - Q2 Financial Report + Upcoming Plans

It's time for our second Quarterly Financial Report.
We've continued to be a very healthy business just seven months into this adventure. Obviously, you'll notice we had a Net Loss this time around, but this was expected due to a heavier than normal tax burden.
We didn't pay ourselves until February of this year, and we raised a hefty chunk of change from Nov to Dec 2023 thanks to your generosity to help get this business off the ground.
Thankfully we had planned for this, and our War Chest is still right around the $200,000 mark. We're now paying our taxes quarterly, plus running a lean business model so we won't have a tax bill like that again going forward.
As for what's coming up.
Tomorrow we are launching The Rewind Podcast which is our movie / tv focused podcast hosted by Darren Mooney, Marty Sliva, and Jack Packard as a rotating third host. That podcast will air every other week on Tuesdays at Noon CT.
In August, we plan to launch Marty's new show, The Archive, which is our replacement for Lost in Time back on The Escapist. It will be focused on older games, providing Marty's thoughts + historical context for why those games were important, and shouldn't be forgotten.
We're also officially heading to PAX West in August. We'll be announcing our plans for that soon, but don't expect just the normal "games we checked" out coverage this time around. We're going to get a little experimental this time around and have some more fun with filming there!
If you're heading there, we are planning to do our very first community meetup while we're out there!
Javed Sterritt (Good Blood) is working on his next major video which will be Metal Gear Untold. If you remember the first episode of Metal Gear Legend back at The Escapist, he took that series back to the drawing board to expand it and make it something really special for you.
He's been working hard on research for it, translating a lot of Japanese works for the video, and the little glimpse we got of it a couple weeks ago... this thing is shaping up to be something incredible.
And of course, we're also heading out to film the Animal Well Documentary in August for release later this year.
We also have another surprise in store, but we'll save that one for now...
Overall, Second Wind is in a very strong position as we take on the second half of this year! We'll be continuing to experiment with new works, new revenue streams like properly monetizing our podcasts, getting into more short-form video content, and of course working with more fantastic sponsorship partners.

In a true financial statement it wouldnβt show up like this as the taxes would go against the period they were incurred against. So most of this tax bill would go against 2023, dropping the net income there and then showing a more healthy picture here.

I understand your concern. But businesses have good quarters and bad quarters. Look at the reports from January and December. Each one makes up for this.
