This was my first time every playing Silent Hill 2, and yeah pretty much everything you highlighted about the original is what I liked lol.

Yeah but the point of remakes isn't to re-make a flawed classic in an effort to improved it, it is to mine the brand equity and player outrage for money.

I enjoyed that and I enjoyed the OG years ago so will give this a miss to keep my rose tinted memory of this game intact. Also who else feels like dec*A*hitlers needs to become an internationally recognised unit of Measurement for ethical standing?

I think it's a pretty solid game and unfortunately in a world where the original SH2 isn't readily accessible the remake is the closest many people will ever get to playing it. I think James is still interesting and I liked the subversions of the puzzles in the original, though I will agree the game overdoes it in the mannequins(something Jim Sterling also criticized about it).
