Chapter 3: Dev log #2

I am making good progress with Chapter 3, even though the WiAB update isn't finished yet.
Today's update is about Nami.
Due to my strive for quality. I have to get rid of her old hair.
It's like a thorn in my eye.
Also, I am animating more and more scenes. The new hairs are also a lot better to animate.
I want 2 hairstyles for almost every female.
One open hair.
One ponytail/updo hair.
It was no problem finding a suitable ponytail for Nami.
But the open hair is a problem.
It is important that the color matches and high quality is given. (Even tho I customized the hair shader.)
Nami has a "Bro/Wild" like appearance. She is no fancy girly girl.
And this is a problem. All the hair I have and have bought in the last week looks too smooth or too fancy.
This is probably the best I got for now.
On the left side, you can see the old hair. As you can see, it looks weirdly thick and "unreal".
But I managed to match the colors pretty close.
But the new hair does not satisfy me because it looks too smooth.
But, there is nothing I can do about it.. I would probably even contact the Artist of the "HQ" hairs I use and ask for a custom-made hair.
But I can't afford this at the moment.
So, this hair has to cut it until I find something better and send Nami to the barber.

I do indeed remember you :) Yes, but adding a necklace or another accessory in that scene would be weird. (You will see why when the chapter releases.) She is actually looking at a computer but you can't see it in those 2 pictures :)

This is one of the reasons why I love doing 2 games. It keeps everything fresh and after every release, I am looking forward on seeing the other characters again. It's always a huge motivation bonus.

B-52, I understand and agree with you in part. I don't know if Ocean is trying to avoid getting burned out (creativity and/or work load wise) but I've seen other VN creators do this, multiple VNs simultaneously, to try to avoid burnout. Summers Gone is the newer project and it might be the fuel that keeps WIAB moving to completion - just my thought. I actually became a Patreon for Summer's gone and I am holding WIAB in reserve to enjoy when I have some uninterrupted time. Hang in there - I'm sure Summer's Gone will be worth it.

I really think it is not a good idea to develop two games and release them alternately ... frankly I have already forgotten what took place in Summer´s gone and I don´t want to replay the game every third month when the new release comes out...

Hello! :) Not sure if you remember me from the Discord; I talked on there a quite while ago about reddish pubes a bit. Hoping Nami get that. Reddish pubes are so rare, they are pure gold. I'm a pubes connoisseur ;) Anyway, first of all, I just became a Patron now as I just realized I was not yet. I think that updo really pushed me a bit more to becoming a Patron, hehe. >:-P That being said, I really love the updo that Nami have. And, honestly, from the last screenshot, it looks like that she was looking at a phone. Actually, I thought it would look like she would also be looking at a computer, hehe. I also wonder how she would look with ponytail on the side. Have you considered adding accessories like necklaces? Seriously, I can see it. If Nami was wearing a necklace in that last screenshot, oh boy, that would make her even more hotter, haha. But, of course, storyline is always important so make sure you don't lose sight of that while improving the visuals. But I think I trust you that you will not forget that. Anyway, good luck with open hair! Honestly, I liked the older open hair but I totally understand why you wanted to redo. I suppose it wouldn't work well with an uphold realistically. Guess we can't have everything, hehe.

Although i lost the great hair war of 2020, I believe i am warming up to it. You could give her Voss hair and i would still love her in the end.

Maybe let us know the name of the hair asset you're currently using. It could probably be tweaked by playing with the color/opacity maps, and tweaking the mesh in Blender. I'd be happy to give it a go if you like.

I agree with you Ocean that the new hairstyle is a bit too smooth, too "elegante" for what characteristic Nami is portraiting. But that's always kind of the problem with hairstyles in Daz, there are too few good lookkng ones and they don't always fit the characters.

Looks great if you're having trouble with the down hair you can always use it for fancy dress occasions
