That makes me ponder the Yakuza games and their themes as stated of fatherhood and brotherhood and shirtless punch-ups on rooftops. Kinda funny given the explicit theme of the recent ones is of an over-40 geeky manchild who decides it's not too late to rebuild his life from rock bottom.

nah it did big time, it felt like it regressed a bit when Sonic Team overdid it on the meta-humor in all the games from Colors onwards until Frontiers basically.

As a Sonic fan, it really didn't. At best it's still stuck in a helluva awkward puberty.

Yahtzee is dead fucking wrong about Sonic, that franchise grew up in a good way.

The next step is obviously grandad games.

This is a very interesting topic. I think that its not just the audience but the developers as well. They've gone from hotshot coders/designers to calling the shots and ordering other people around (bad and good there) who do the coding etc. I was thinking about the Witcher series the other day after finishing Cyberpunk again and seeing the list of babies born during its development. In W1 Geralt boned his way across the game. In W2 there were 4-5 and not all were available in one path. In W3 I think there were also 4-5 but several of those were related to romancing one character and trying for a threesome got you dumped in a river. In Cyberpunk they were basically all gated to character romance. I think this is all fine, BTW.

I think we need more post-production-poetry in general
