I guess I need to give this game a go... Slightly late to the party

I don't really replay games anymore, it seems like a waste of time to me. If I go back to a game tho, I'm usually more like "how could I have liked it";) Still, thanks for a nice article.

I’ve never played this, as I have no sense of direction, and that maps scares me.

I used to basically never replay games, never rewatch movies and never reread books because I considered it a finished experience. But then I read a quote online, can't exactly remember where, which said that "Even though the books haven't changed, you have". Which made me realize that a reason to rewatch/replay/reread is not to capture the feeling again that you had during your first experience of the media, but to experience it for the first time as the person you are today. Since then I've gone back to several things and found enjoyment again.

Goddamit, Marty, I don't have time to replay Hollowknight stop making me want to replay Hollowknight! I already replayed it at the start of the year... Re-enjoying media is a great pleasure though - you never cross the same river twice, etc. I do it less with games than books, films, and TV though - and I think the list of games I'd like to replay is shorter too. Definitely a emotion-led process though - I'll replay Undertale, FF9, FFX, just for the notes of melancholy in the music and narrative. HK has all this too. I can't think of a game I've replayed for mechanics and gameplay though - excepting any forever games/roguelikes that I've never put down to start with.

Hell yeah, glad you’re pressing through! Definitely think the game really starts cooking once you get those movement abilities, which you’re well on your way through. Another tip I’d give is to buy the map markers from the store and make use them often. It’s nice to get a new power, and then know exactly where to go back to and use it.

Great read. Follow up from Firelink last weak I've gotten the wall jump and made it through the mantis village. I'm going to continue to power through, but I'm a better player than I was a few years ago when I last tried. Thank you guys for your encouraging words last week, it truly is an awesome game
