Celebrating from a Distance

There's usually two or three. One of them started it, but today he's not here. This year he's gone to spend this special time with his significant other. So for now Brooklyn is going to enjoy it for himself.
He's heard how Lexington has just gone down there in cover. He offered the idea to Brooklyn but Brooklyn wasn't ready just yet. He loves the outfits, the colors, the music, and most of all just how happy everyone here is. Whether they were in the parade or in the crowd, everyone sported a smile. Not a fake smile either, but a genuine one, one that's almost impossible to fake. Even though he's alone this year, he's never really alone with this crowd.
He imagines how freeing it would be walk down along with them, spread his joy for the person whom he's become. Eat the stuff they do, dress the way they do ,and dance the way they do. Maybe he'll stick to pastel colors... or perhaps he could do one of those very shiny outfits. He could even just wear all that leather like some of them do. Yeah maybe he'll go with something he's used to. No one seems to judge, not one is bothered, everyone seems to be accepted.
He wishes to be accepted, he wants to be there and celebrate this freedom... But for now, he's happy just celebrating from a distance.

Awww gosh Brooklyn looks so cute! The story is amazingly heartfelt with just a tinge of sadness, knowing his pain of wanting to be part of the crowd but being too scared to try. I do so hope Brooklyn does some day get the courage to celebrate with all the others, but he looks happy just being able to celebrate and experience the warmth and happiness ❤️
