If you’ve been following me for the past year you know that I have been fighting a war of attrition with a mysterious health condition for what feels like forever. I have been to countless doctors and tried every homeopathic, OTC, and practical remedy imaginable but it’s been getting steadily worse since last June when I dropped all that weight due to a respiratory issue. After dogsitting for two weeks and all of my symptoms completely vanishing, I realized it was something in my little windowless shitbox apartment and decided to do some of my own tests. I hauled everything out of my room (one of the only ones with windows) and covered the floor in a tarp to make an airlock of sorts. I got a carbon monoxide detector, removed all allergens, and began testing for mold. As you can see, this place is in fact Nasty 9000, like I’ve been saying since last year, and I now know why I have been so sick. Unfortunately while my landlady did let me break my lease, I now have to move in less than a month and finding a place this cheap is simply not doable so I’m gonna end up doubling my rent. Even so, I could not be happier to finally have a solution to all of this and have light at the end of the tunnel for the first time since last year.

Definitely get out of that apartment. The landlady should be responsible, renovation and the maintenance is needed

I'd be contacting someone in your city about this. Having mold in a rental property that's not being handled is illegal, you could feasibly sue the landlady for your rent money back and any medical bills. I had an old landlord that I caught his son painting over black mold in the garage. I made sure to tell anyone that came to look at the house about it and he tried to evict me for it. I drew that uno reverse card and showed him pictures of the mold and video of his kid painting over it told him I'll be calling the city and contacting a lawyer if he tries anything.

Yeah man, mold is awful, can affect you physically and mentally. I know a bunch of people who've been through the same shit, you won't regret finding a better place to stay!
