Mental health issues aren't a usa thing, Japan has one of the highest sucide rates in the world. Thinking about hurting people but not acting on it is mentally ill, same way cid from emiemce in shadow is a beyond broken man and not simply a chuuni. Might be a cultural thing then. School shooters aren't really a thing in japan unlike in the US. I've watched many reactions to this anime and many did realize that he's a chuunibyo- 8th grade, one eye covered, has weird fantasies, these are all symptoms for a chuuni character.

I thought you'd immediately realize that he's a chuunibyo. To me he's interesting because what he thinks and what he does contradicts a lot. He has these dark thoughts but then whenever she or his classmates are in trouble he helps them out secretly. It's one of these shows where actions speak louder than words.
