The obvious answer to the question if he is the same person is yes. They already demonstrated that the blacksmith only knew one other person who can use all three magic types and those seem an awful lot like personal features to me.

I think it's really cute that Lorraine didn't know where her letters were, and then immediately thought about asking Rentt where they'd be within her own house. This tells us a lot about their relationship, and it's really cute. Oh, and also how it's implied that Rentt used to cook for her regularly. I ship them so much.

I think his body is really his own. I mean, when he awoke as a skeleton, he had his clothes from when he was alive. He also still had some of his equipment, such as the flasks that he used in episode 1 to collect the slime liquid.

I mean you can argue the same stuff about are you really you when you consider every cell in your body dies and is replaced many times over your lifespan.

I think he's really himself, he's just doubting it because he's looking at that wound. I think it might be he just takes on some of the characteristics of his form, because if he was truly a mindless zombie with Rentt's memories, wouldn't he be feeling hunger all the time? Hungry is a zombies default state. Maybe it's a result of his using all 3 magic types, but I doubt monsters can use divinity, but he can.
