I mean I think Reina is right, to a point. I was completely okay with her opinion/take on the matter - until the last scene. The one thing I don't agree with though is the last thing she says to her. "Then you're a failure as a president". This is just simply not true. In fact, she's a far better executive than you are, Reina. You have the benefit that everyone expects you to be the harsh critic. But without Kumiko (and to a lesser degree Shuichi, because he's doing the same just not on camera) the unity of your club would be in shambles. That said, no matter how much I understand and totally accept that Kumiko is questioning Taki... that doesn't mean it's necessarily right for her to do so. At the end of the day it is Taki's decision. Where Kumiko is right, though, is that you can't just ignore that everyone is feeling disonant. Shutting them down doesn't solve the problem. But seeking understanding is important. And frankly, it helps Kumiko grow as a person from this experience. Now, if Reina could learn that shutting out the feelings completely is also wrong, we'd be in a great spot...

Glad you enjoyed it but god, this episode borderline ruined Reina's character for me dude. I wonder what form of national government she thinks would be most functional if Taki was running for office. What a simp dude, shits all over kumiko for her teachers sake.

I feel like making decisions that shock the band overall and feed discourse among the members would make the overall performance worse. Maybe the entire band should have been part of the audition voting like last time.

While I overall agree with Reina in that I always defer to the conductor even if I may not agree with their decision (they usually end up being right), her pseudo-authoritarian "No voicing your displeasure anywhere" schtick really turned me against her this episode. Culture needs to be sold to the ensemble, not forced upon them, otherwise you risk your vet retention rate plummeting (this happened to my college marching band). Honestly, I think Taki just needs to do a better job advertising that he's available for 1-on-1 follow-ups for anyone interested. It's clear from Kumiko's demeanor at the very end that even she isn't comfortable questioning his decision-making, and she's the President!

Man I cant wait for you to get to the last ep. Not because of the ending of the anime, But due to something Kyoani the studio did which honestly you wouldn't even have any idea about until someone mentions it. Very excited.

aaaaaah fully caught up with your reactions finally, had to take a break because of the delay with the actual broadcast (and the emotional toll I took in the last fours weeks lmao). I feel at this point the only way the band could glue back together would to be like have Taki explain his choices to the collective or a situation like the prior seasons where the audition is open. Hoping Kumiko's talk to him next episode addresses the state of the band because I think the "Do you really get it" jab at him early in the episode was pointed at his seeming lack of ability to read the room and re-establish everyone's faith in the system
