Yeah, this show is awesome about filling episode time. None of that 24 mins after after commercials, plus OP and ED. And wait till you get to season 2 where they just make 30-50 min long episodes just because they can. From what I hear it cost them some money, but they're pretty passionate about this show.

This episode has one of my favorite scenes in Re:zero (and I have a lot). Kind of like how you were talking about at the end there, it uses a lot of musical silence in it's pacing. So the music along with the color direction, lighting, composition, and the VAs' delivery on the lines, makes it so beautiful. I also just love how even though the implications of the dialog are so subtle the first watch through, because of how well everything is pieced together you can just FEEL the importance. And I think that's where this show really shines, it's that while the whole show is great, the way it handles those "special moments", they're just so beautiful and flawlessly put together.

just to add another point to the death system. The respawn is instant. So there is literally no breathing room in between his moment of death, and his moment of respawn. Thats why he was so panicked at the beginning of the Episode.

It seemed like you got a bit confused about the conversation with Betty. They were talking about healing him after he got sliced by the knife woman, not when he got murdered, since she doesn't know about his Return by Death power as seen in the previous episodes.

now this is super weird 45 minutes ago, I was on crunchyroll, I had 5 options for re:zero seasons, the 25 minute version, and the director's cut separately, I looked at a few of the 25 minute episodes, to see that they don't have a preview, now I only see the director's cut, wtf

The Crunchyroll version is exclusively the director's cut, which is too long for the episodic content Tony is trying to do.

Yea the details of things can get a little scattered or just not the easiest to understand on a first watch for sure. In this episode, he learned that Shamans can do that Mana-Draining curse, but only two people can do it in the house (Beatrice and Puck, who she calls Bubby). Also that the sound of chains came last time before he died randomly and Rem's weapon has chains so perhaps in the hallway last episode it was Rem that killed him. He just continues to learn new things that recontextualize his past deaths and that's always fun to figure out if that's an aspect that interests you.

Re:Zero does the cutesy and fun music so well that it just makes the scarier stuff hit that much harder. Some of these tracks like the one at the end make my hairs stand up like my body feels like its actually in danger, makes my heart beat like I'm working out.

You asked about the mana system at the end. Basically, mana is just your magic stamina, and basically if you were to have yours drained completely it would actually kill you. Anything more to know the show will expand on later.

A show where screaming like crazy is at least done for justifiable reasons. Like waking up after having your arm ripped off. Also with regards to opening and ending songs this show is typically trying to cram so much into it's episodes that it's not uncommon to just not have the opening or ending play in a particular episode just so they get a little more episode time.
