I think it might be helpful to know that servants are so physically strong and durable that all conventional human weapons are completely harmless to them. Servants can basically only be harmed by other servants, with some rare exceptions using specific magic in specific circumstances. So Kiritsugu's conventional weapons are only potentially useful against other masters.

I dont need to see it in patreon 1080p as long as you do. Considering Vinland Saga had each ep 25 min and this fate bd version is like 24 and sometime its 25-26. In the cr version its 23 minutes so idk.

Also that 10000% depends on how I export the video from my editor. Trust me, what I am seeing is GREAT. You are def not getting that version after export AND Patreon scaling videos down tho. I just looked at the export of the reaction vs what I am watching. They are def not equal. I am not going to have it take 45 mins to export a huge file size, that is crazy... Ill never get the amount of reactions up.

And both those 29 min (or one 29 min and the other is like 28 min) are pretty early on, and then they are like 24-27 min episodes so its not bad, vinland saga s2 had each episode 25 min for reference.

Ufotable does incredible work with the fights. They get even better from here and the series after this, Unlimited Blade Works has even more insane fights, if you can believe that. And if it hasn't been mentioned yet, Ufotable is the same studio that animated Demon Slayer. They really know how to animate fights well.

Btw, your watch through of this series finally convinced me to go off the deep end, and start playing the original Fate VN. And its insane how many connections I started making while playing the VN and watching your reactions! (I won't spoil though.)

Man it's a shame you didnt really get that far into the latest BG be it your own tastes or time. The latter half of the game is FULL of stuff you'd love having played the old ones. Set pieces, callbacks, quest continuations, characters. It's amazing

The main thing about masters and servants is that the servant needs a master to supply them with mana to stay anchored to this world. Otherwise its a personality thing how a master-servant relationship works. Theres a reason why masters need the command seals. Also yeah the fights and animations of ufotable are pretty unique. This came out 2011 and its one of the best animationwise with the other fate stuff beside it.

It would look even better considering the Crunchyroll Fate/Z version is 720p and the other is 1080p with redrawn scenes. Plus it doesn't cut out usefull dialogue/scenes. ex. multiple episodes cut out like 7-9 minutes. And the translation is subpar and some scenes are compeletly censored... pls. it will be worth it.

If by the end of Fate Zero (released in 2011) you still want to continue with Fate UBW (2014, 2nd season in release order), the animation will be even more insane. Heaven's feel movies (2017, 2019, 2020) were the most recent adaptations of Fate by ufotable and those had god tier animation (comparable in quality to later seasons of demon slayer which is also animated by ufotable)

Fate zero was the testing ground to try out the insane animation and visuals that we see here that were fined tuned in demon slayer ufotable was in the kitchen cooking up the secret formula

Despite the "Servant/Master" relationship our characters have, Servants are not obligated to follow the orders of their Masters if they don't want to. The only time Servants have to follow an order their Master gives them is if the Master uses 1 of their 3 command spells on their hand. Once the command spells are gone, the Servant can obey or disobey as they please.

So Lancer was shown to be Diarmuid this episode. That's a really old legend of Irish origin; it's set in and probably from around 200-400AD-ish. The story says he once slayed 3000 people of an approaching army singlehandedly

The servants are/were people so they have autonomy to do what they want. Some are more free-willed or hardheaded than others because that's just their personality. The one thing that keeps a servant in check is the three tattoos on the master's hand they can use to impose any rule on the servant (and the fact that the master and servant theoretically have the same goal)

Already know it's gonna be a banger, this is like surface level for the fights in UFOTABLE's Fate. Looking forward to the rest of the series

This anime is a fantastic introduction to this franchise. Ufotable is one of the best animation studios to do it. That the soundtrack also pays off in big ways is a huge plus!
