It's really fun to rewatch this show from the beggining and catch all the little clues that the author plant in the course of the show till the revealing. And it's not the end of this story.

Do you have any recommendations? I really like the formula, but the only one I found on netflix Doctor Dee seems firmly mid.

I'd watched too many of these Chinese imperial dramas (technically, this show denies the setting is Chinese... but I think we all know) in my youth to be impressed with the storytelling beats... but boy, it is nostalgic. The barely concealed hints and the almost unbelievable string of "coincidences" that are actually all connected almost seem contrived once you take a few steps back and look at the story as a whole... that's the feel I got after I've watched like, the thirteenth 30-episode drama that follows the formula. Still, though, when the storytelling successfully pulls you in, and you get immersed in the plot development, it keeps you at the edge of your seat.

Yes the implication is that Jinshi is the other baby, with him pretending to be a Eunuch, pretending to be 24 and then telling the story of the 2 babies. Maomao had technically already guessed this back in episode 11 but she wrote it off as an idea for being ridiculous. Some much information this episode but damn was it so good!

I think you're right, I'm pretty sure Jinshi is the other baby, not only that but he looks pretty much like that other Concubine who left, purple hair and purple eyes and the same kind of look. I think even Mao Mao said at one point said that Jinshi with women's clothes would pretty much be Ah Duo but then brushed it off as "dumb thoughts".
