Tony when you finish this show. I BEG YOU TO READ THE MANGA. The manga is illustrated by Yusuke Murata and its honestly better than the show. Season 2 to be specific, it kinda falls off because of the budget but I think if you tried, you would really appreciate the manga.

It's crazy that ONE was able to use the same root concept for both this and Mob Psycho ('the protagonist is too strong') and turn it into two such strong but so different works.

This is definitely better after watching a lot of anime but I feel like anyone that watched cartoons and/or enough shows/movies can understand the jokes that this show is making. I would argue that it's a better anime for people that are new to anime because unless you are a teen, your regular action/battle anime can turn you off. This show is hard not to like no matter who you are so it can easily make a "normie" realize that: "hey, anime is not a genre, it's a medium and if I don't like anime is just because I didnt find the right ones"

There are a lot of chapters in the manga, like 250 chapters, so there are plenty of material to go off. Which is just awesome! It's just such a subversion compared to normal shonen anime, where the main charector keeps growing

I recently finished season 1 of Mashle and to be honest it was such a baaaaad attempt at doing what OPM is doing. it genuinely can not decide if it wants to be satire or if it wants to be a real battle shonen and keeps flubbing both.

One Punch Man was like a unicorn when it first aired. Ridiculous animation, people who didn't normally watch anime loved it, and it's a show about a bald guy that makes people explode with his fists.

Yeah, I love how ridiculous OPM is and you it's also a great action series as well. A similar show would be Mashle

Yeah, there aren't too many that lean into parody ridiculousness in the same way as OPM, and most are lower quality since I think there's a bit of a perception that comedy can get by without good visuals (S2 of OPM certainly went that way). Mashle is probably closest in general tone to OPM, but in a Harry Potter setting instead of superhero. The Eminence in Shadow is very funny but it's more of an edgy isekai parody.

This is actually a great anime for people who don’t really watch anime. It’s been one of the best gateways to get ppl invested into the medium. This anime definitely shows how it gets people really into it despite Saitama being crazy strong and I can’t wait for you to get to those parts.
