I feel like the scene at the end with Maggie Daryl & Jesus was to throw us off and overthink the idea of the three of them becoming the new antagonists against Rick, Michonne and etc. It was made out to seem a lot more dramatic then we all know it actually pans out. It’s not like they were planning on actually fighting against each other, they just want to prove that sparing Negan’s life was not Rick’s decision to make by himself and the first few episodes of season 9 make that clear.

I actually liked season 8, while it wasn't my favorite season, I enjoyed it. Some seasons are best binged for some. I didn't like the back half of season 4 when it aired but others loved it. The only thing I didn't like about 8 was that I missed the walkers. I know that humans are supposed to be worse but I still loved the jump scares from the scenes with the walkers which was lacking (for the most part) in season 8. I also did not like the Maggie, Daryl, and Jesus moment at the end. I understand Maggie wanting Neagan dead but I didn't like that meeting with the 3 of them. After season 8 aired, my sister and I went to Senoia, Georgia and were able to tour several locations It was cool seeing all of the places where they filmed.

I lost my s—-t when they showed Rick and Carl walking to the farm. I have watched this episode like 3 times and I cry every time. I’m so happy to be on this journey with both of you. This show means so much to me and I know it means as much to so many others. Season 2 is my favorite but season 9 is a close tie. Just when you thought it couldn’t get any better. Enjoy guys ❤️❤️

Your right Rob watching season 8 week by week as I and many of us did was to me long and drawn out feel it would have been much more satisfying if I had waited and binge watched. Season 9 came and was a breath of fresh air and still one of my favourites cant wait for you guys to get into one of the best seasons in my humble opinion.

I perfectly understand that binge watching the show is a very different experience. I watched the 5 first seasons and then forgot about it for like 2 years because of the long wait between seasons. Then I discovered the Skybound compilations and it made want to go back and watch FEAR. I realized then that I missed TWD and never stopped until the very last episode of season 11. I would have never stopped for a minute if I binge watched it like you do. That's also the reason why I love your reactions. It's very intentional and honest.

So Negan sacrificed his men. Nice guy, right? pfft. Yay! Eugene. Never doubted him for a minute. Well, okay... maybe for a minute. lol Gabe gave him the idea, and Eugene ran away from Rosita & Daryl to finish the job. Only he could have done it, and he realized that when he chose to go back. Eugene jumped out of the car to get to Gabe first, so that the other saviors don't just automatically kill him when they reached him. He knew Negan had other plans for Gabe, so he just needed time for Negan to catch up to them, and get him far enough to the clearing. I don't like that Negan gets to live, but okay, whatever. Carl's words/wishes finally hit Rick. Maggie's heartbreak is my own. Geez! She gets me every time. But her decision at that moment to save the others, had a lot to do with that other savior that keeps bugging her.

I´m so happy you guys made it through season 7 and 8. For me they were my least favorites but it still had great moments and I definetly appreciate it so much more re-watching with you guys. Don´t worry, personally I don´t believe the show has any other downside, season 9, 10 and 11 are bangers in my opinion, I hope you enjoy!

Fun fact...everything, from the season 1 Pilot to this episode, has all happened canonically within a 2-YEAR TIME FRAME. Crazy. There is a full timeline organized & laid out by the FANS that you guys can and should look up on Google once you get through the whole show. That timeline shows how every event up to this point has happened in a couple years— even though, in real time, it was 7-8 years for us.

I loved that you mentioned right away that Negan would be locked away in Morgan's cell. When Rick asked him as to why he made it, he said so that Rick will have more options next time. Dwight was in that cell and now Negan will be too. It's so good.

Loved the reaction! I remember being so bitter (much like Maggie) that Negan didn’t die. Especially after 2yrs of investment in this storyline and the characters constantly pounding in our heads that they all wanted to kill him. It threw me for a left field but I am not mad at Rick & Michonne, love them too much for that, and I very much don’t want to see conflict between our characters. Great point though Rob, prison is definitely worse than death in this case, considering he is our only prisoner in Alexandria 😆

I’ve come to believe that although the backdrop of Season 8 is all out war, its theme is much deeper. It explores what you are and what you become when your identity and purpose are stripped away. For Rick, it’s always been about being a father first and foremost. He would do anything to protect his child, put on the “murder coat” and lay waste to those threatening his family be it human or walker. The loss of Carl didn’t immediately change that, but by the end he remembered what he was in the beginning of his journey - merciful. For Ezekial, it was being stripped of what he only thought of as a facade. He put on the trappings of a king with his method of speech and having a tiger companion - faking it until he made it. In reality, he had it all along. Every decision he made for his community wasn’t an act. It was him all along. For Daryl, it was the belief that he knew the difference between a good person and a bad person. Dwight burned him so bad that he became ice cold and no one was worth saving. His first impression of Dwight was right and he did the just thing by sparing him. For Morgan, “all life is precious” has kept him from fracturing, but realizing that despite this belief people keep dying senselessly anyway.

Season 9 is when it felt like the writing was similar but also very different to old school walking dead seasons. It was just so well done. I've been waiting for it to begin since episode one aired and now it's 6 days away!!!! So freaking excited! I agree with you that the maggie and daryl Jesus talk in the end felt weird. Especially because they included Jesus in the meeting who seems to be all for peace instead of war at this point. But I also understand their frustration with negan being alive. Rick made a decision with out speaking with the other communities leaders and even after her breakdown of his decision he still went against what others may want. He started this war saying the only death everyone was needing was negans and ended it with them not only saving him but locking him up in a cell so he could still live as a symbol.

Rob you're spot on! A lot of people say this could have/should have been the ending. I'm not a huge fan of this season as a whole, but the finale was really touching and surprisingly heartwarming. Can't wait for the craziness ahead!

Thank God you got through s7/8. They were definitely my least favorite seasons - but upon rewatching with you (which was my first time since it aired) I have a new appreciation. I am so excited for you to jump into 9, which is one of my favorite seasons.

I love how nervous eugene is when he chases out after Gabe. You end up realizing after that he was nervous the group was gonna find out the ammunition was screwed with early by shooting at Gabe trying catch him when he jumped out of the car.

They actually played this in theatres in my hometown. It aired the week of our local Comic con so there were tons of people attending in various costumes. The audience reaction to the Eugene surprise was awesome. Gasps, confusion, cheers. Good fun!!!
