Interesting bit of timing in the penultimate panel You could have put the nurse saying "vegetative state" in its own panel, before this one. But then we would have expected the joke, and it would have lost impact By putting the statement in the same panel you don't give us time to anticipate the punchline, so it has impact Natural talent honed by twenty+ years of experience, and it shows
