A not so fun update to this is that there was a school shooting in Minneapolis (in Minnesota/the US) and the alleged shooter was found to have a deleted video he'd posted showing off all his ammunition and endorsing Brandon Herrera for president, saying he'd met Brandon at a weapons expo and they agreed on a lot of things. Herrera's irresponsible and dangerous ideology helped reinforce an alleged school shooter's actions. Im an american citizen and tbh i fucking hate it. Recently I drank a lil to much while out with my coworker. Once getting back to his house he felt the need to threaten me because his daughter was in the house. He quickly followed this by giving me a shot gun. He said "you just never know, anything can happen". The only people in this house was him, his daughter and me. The only thing I had to be scared if WAS HIM! I didnt sleep, how could I have?!?! I live in america and I have guns more so out of necessity. I dont take it to the movies or grocery shopping. I keep it in my house in case the masked government wants to start yanking people out of there homes in the middle of the night. You guys should really add garandthumb to your guntuber repertoire.

Something important about US culture is that teenage girls aren't totally people - this is probably influenced by growing up as a girl/woman in post 9/11 Florida where constant objectification of women in general seems more normalized than other areas of the country I've lived in, but I've never felt more like a prey animal than when I was a teenage girl. Many men would condemn in polite company ever wanting to have sex with a high schooler but absolutely want to fuck their daughter's friends and you wouldn't even really question someone's favorite porn genre being 'Barely Legal'. Girls who had sex with their teachers in my high school were seen as having as much culpability as the grown man and ostracized and dropped out. I think that's why people like Matt Gaetz can fold so easily back into their positions of power and why Trump might just get away with it, in their minds a 'kid' is like 11 or below, pre-pubescent. I may not be saying anything not obvious but I realize a lot of sane men may not realize the weirdo thinking of some of the guys around them! Would love to hear others' perspectives and experiences

Something you have to remember about the "boyfriend loophole" is that this is america, a police state. When they say abuse you picture a guy hitting his girlfriend, but in america they need to keep constantly feeding the prison slave industry so "abuse" is often just a woman calling the police to punish her boyfriend for not doing what she wanted or breaking up with her. Theres a rule in the US that if the police are ever called for a domestic dispute the man must leave in handcuffs, regardless of what happened. Even if its as simple as a loud argument or the woman attacking the man, or literally nothing happened but someone saw a black man and a white woman holding hands so called the police on him. In america being convicted of domestic abuse doesnt actually mean any abuse took place, it just means the police needed to hit their arrest quote that week.

It's not that there's growing support for a different opinion, it's that they're "being invaded".
