The 2 months notice are mandatory by law here. The company may let you leave earlier, if they agree that's fine. Else, if they want you to stay the 2 months and you decide to leave earlier then you need to pay the company as compensation.

I hope your last two months (MONTHS!?) go quickly. Most places here want two weeks notice, however, many people just quit in anger. You normally wouldn't get dragged for that too hard. In Portugal, would you be fined or something?
