To answer your question, I think the pose looks great. This might be just me thinking, but experimenting with different poses is a great idea, you never know what might work and what will not until that moment. Hope that helps, cheers. :)
I think it's an excellent idea. It's always worth going out of your comfort zone to try something you're not used to, especially if it feels right.
