Then again, new tables and playground equipment is quite a carrot to dangle in front of Beouf. And all that was required was the sacrifice of a little who was foolish enough to trust an amazon

Interesting how Beouf all of a sudden gets new cafeteria and playground equipment. It's almost like a pay-off to stay out of the way of what was gonna happen to Clark. She didn't say anything when Jeremy's paper was produced, even though she knew full well that it had been proven to be a lie. She did try to warn Clark though. At least, I think that's what she was doing when she told Clark about the missing diapers. If Clark was stealing the diapers like Beouf appears to believe, that would have been a more then adequate warning

It has been referenced in the story, very early on. Talking about how there was a single escapee in Clark's tenure there, and Clark was defended by Beouf as not being in on it. But the details of said escape have not been revealed as of yet. It's very difficult to be constantly agressive and angry at someone all the time. But wounds and anger do take time to heal. Expect fluctuations.

“That wasn’t my intent,” I half-admitted. I was going to escape eventually just not… “How do you guys know about that? None of you were enrolled when that happened.”....Was this incident talked about in the story? I know it's been a while and I haven't re-read yet? or is this going to be another "in between" chapter where we hear this story? Side note, I'm glad to see the initial animosity slowly going away and the other littles actually coming around.

Thank you! One of the things that I intentionally did was set this story in Oakshire. I noticed that a lot of DD stories (if not all) are set in a "Big City" of some sort. For this, I'm very much into a "write what you know" mindset. I don't know Big Cities beyond being a tourist. A wicked little town, however, is something I do know.

I’ll be honest, whatever machinations you’re setting up are completely below my radar! My instinct is leaning towards this playground being some sort of mind-buzzer like the toys, but Clark would’ve clocked that immediately, so it can’t be so simple. Perhaps it’s something of a more personal nature to him? Either way, I’m excited to see! Another curiosity; I’ve not seen a scenario (strangely, I know) where regressed Little facilities are so clearly allocated less funds than other equipment, usually since most settings tend towards placing large amounts of social importance on the seamless roleplay the Amazons force on the Littles. It’s… well, it’s clearly the logical outcome when human nature and a minority group is involved. But it’s somehow both a surprise and refreshing. Damn it all, you’re making me care for how much Beouf has probably struggled in her time here with as little administration support as she has, despite knowing full-well *what* she’s been struggling to do. Finally, because you only gave us the tiniest nibble, I like that someone else finally asked about what happened to Clark, and clarified in the process that what he’d heard couldn’t be true (despite it being so) because that hasn’t historically happened to the others. It was as weird as Clark has described it, something that’s good to have a witness confirm. Got my ears peeled around Tommy, that’s for sure. Nice work!

These are good long term questions! One of the things I love about this story is the world building allows for longer term storytelling and shifting stakes. Yes, one way or another, the carrot of Cassie is finite. But the thing about life is new stakes and motivators always come along. This won't be a forever story, but there are layers.

Great chapter! I do loom forward to the chapter with Cassie. I am also curious as to what happens with afterwards and if he behaves tomorrow. I think he will but eventually he will crack a bit. Cassie is a big a carrot to hold over him, what stops him from being more mischievous afterwards...lol!
