I re-read this and it's more depressing a second time around. It's actually a fairly awful feeling and punches you in the gut, over and over...

I love Clark's schemes but I hate seeing Janet dejected when all she wants to do is help. Seeing her change her strategies with him was neat. They're both learning and I'm interested to see who will win out.

Last name is still too personal. Wonder how she would react to Jailer?

I can see the influence of her support group. Clark will have a hard time fighting their influence on Janet. I just can’t wait to see how he interacts with the teachers now that he’s had the weekend to plan. One thing I learned as a corrections officer back in the day, you’ll lose to an inmate way more then win because all they have is time to plan

You’re such a tease. In a good way

I like how Janet is changing up the strategy on Clark and engaging him with simple questions. It is throwing him off guard but I wonder if it is a strategy from “Little Voices?” I think the addition of Janet asking the question about names is also throwing Clark off. Mrs. Beouf was a mentor and friend to Clark, whereas Janet was just a friend. I believe that is part of the difference. Last names can be easier sometimes as well though. I do wonder what e is coming this weekend as your ending sentence about it being “even longer after that” opens to many possibilities!!

If she likes being called Janet, he's gonna have to figure out a different thing to call her.

Well I think Janet when she got the email about Clark mostly drop all thoughts of him as a friend and equal and saw him as a little to care for and protect. She had that crush since he broke down in front of her. However I think she really now seeing him slowly just between little voices and her desires on being a mother is clashing. Hints why we are seeing her being motherly but letting him still be an adult when able. As she still sees him somewhat as an adult due to his behavior and all. However I think between little voices, other Amazons and her own desires. Clark is on a tightrope and need to keep balance if he wants to have a chance on improving anything. Lucky Janet and Beouf both aren't into brain draining and using the easy way to break littles to get what they want. However as we saw last chapter we do see they still around so Clark always has to be on guard. He really can't trust anyone at this moment even Janet as I think she trying something she was taught by little voices. Curious how the next week will go if he joins Janet again, though I can see Clark find himself with a babysitter again. I don't think the other "parents" and littles would mind much due to last week

Why do I feel like that opening was just for me xp For real though, a fun read. And I never noticed it but Janet is right. She has been Janet for a long time. And Beouf has been beouf. The relationship was different. It was professional. Maybe that's why she turned on Clark so fast. It was always business with Beouf. And I really appreciate Janets dedication and patience if nothing else. And her resilience and flexibility. And begrudgingly admire the respect she's giving Clark. Even if it is potentially just a means to an end to break him. You catch more flies with honey after all

I know what you mean. I can see some clues and I know there are some I must of missed. Like I feel like Janet has shut off the baby monitor at night. Meaning the hate chant is just going to the void, also with her letting him help with grading their papers. I can see a theory I have might be coming to past in some way. But I think Janet is slowly waking up from her baby crazy self after feeling the reality of having a baby though the damage is already done and plus she wasn't part of the group who determined he was a baby now, just adopted him after the fact. I kind of see her slowly letting him grow back up a bit, especially after he keeps how is going. However I think this "yes or no" might not be as innocent as it sounds at first. However sometime I wish he would just ask to Janet and Beouf is how he can prove he is still fully functioning and not under "maturosis" or the like. However I am not sure he would be given a true path and he must make one himself. Though with being officially adopted and all, don't think it as simple as a potty and big kid chart to track his non babyish behavior.

Gosh these always make such great reads. I know we're probably a long way off but I can't wait until we get all the answers and the story is done so I can come back to chapters like this one and pick out what might've been red herrings and what were clues shouting at us in the face.
