I understand a lot of the secondhand embarassement/cringe/irritation you get from the characters this episode. And what Patrick said to Richie like "don't you want a place of your own sometime?"(or something like that), maybe Patrick didn't think about the way it came out, or he also wanted them to sound exiting, but it just sounded like he thought Richie wasn't ambicious enough and he should want more/aim higher, but what if he was just satisfied the way things were, and it seemed like Patrick thought, that wasn't enough(sounding a bit ashamed/embarrassed somehow). It's good to be ambicious(just don't walk all over people to get there), but if you found something/a place in life that works for you, and you are satisfied with that, that's fine too. Richie's feelings towards the end of the episode talking to Patrick are very valid/understandable.

yeah, echoing others, season 2/the movie feel like the characters have a little more... idk incentive to improve? usually in the form of consequences for doing dumb shit, but still. definitely fond of most of them by the end!

It's been so interesting re-watching this show with you guys... knowing how every character ends and evolves throughout the show, is quite fascinating going back to the earlier episodes and remember how I hated some of them in the first season lol Can't wait for you guys to watch the second season and the movie!

I could see turning it off in the moment. Josh & Alex only make it worth it with their commentary and humor. I’m not a fan of the casual racism/fetishization of characters of color. And Auggie is a twat waffle. Ugh.

The irony being that Richie deserves so much better than Patrick and his friends. Augustine is such a bitch, and I don't remember ever changing my mind about him later in the series. He's only interested in himself. Richie knows himself and his worth better than anyone else in that crew. Agree with Alex, Richie standing up for himself just made him even hotter 🥵.

I don't know if y'all caught it but Ritchie called Patrick a WASP, which patrick didn't deny. WASP = White Anglo-Saxson Protestant and they can be likened to the "aristocracy" in the UK. They are often the most privileged and influential in society and play a central role in finance, law and politics. Belonging to this group involves the whole private (public in UK) school to ivy Harvard or Yale (Oxford or Cambridge) pipeline, secret clubs and societies, philanthropic endeavors so that some wing of some hospital/gallery/university can be named the "blank" family wing. etc So yeah Patrick is very very privileged.

It's been NINE YEARS, yes, Josh, that long, but I'm pretty sure this was the episode that turned me off of the entire series. The amount of cringe and second-hand embarrassment was insane. I'll continue watching with you lads, but from here on out, it's a new show for me! I hope it gets better!!

I think due to his less privileged background, Ritchie has much more "life experience" than Patrick and is also more assured of his values and morals. Like some of Patrick's thinking and communication is that of like a 19 yr old. But I also think they could bring out the best in each other if they toned down their egos a bit and also payed more attention to what's between them rather than what the world thinks of them together.

I am just so glad you're watching this. I love the show and enjoy watching you guys squirm through this episode. They DO make bad choices and impulsively say the wrong things. I admire how this show let's these three fumble their way into something that may EVENTUALLY resemble adulthood. Being human is hard and Patrick and Agustin in particular are not doing very well at it at present. I like that we are allowed to hope for them and still see how poorly they are doing at present. "Looking" forward to seeing the rest with you. Don't give up on any of them. (Also don't expect any quick fixes!!!!)

Personally I’m okay thanks. I got the call that My Dad passed away last night. I knew that the call would be coming in the near future but it’s never easy. I live 175 miles away so it can be difficult. This video is something to look forward to tonight.
