I kinda get where you're coming from, but when they live in a Spanish town, in Switzerland, write French, and speak Japanese, I feel like the mashup is kinda intended.

The architecture and some of the music do seem very Spanish to me, and the weird style of people in the opening seems really familiar to me for some reason. Kind of makes me think of Picasso's Guernica maybe?

I just realized that I have seen this episode and probably the next 2. I didn't hate it, but just never watched the rest. A few things that bothered me about this anime (and it's something that happens a lot in many series) is that even though the setting is obviously Europe, they transport a lot of Japanese customs to it and it feels kinda jarring. I understand why they do it, but it just takes me out of the moment.

Whenever my friends have bugged me to watch this show, they've always stressed that the worldbuilding is the best part of SoRa no WoTo. Seeing you delve into it, I can really understand what they meant.
