I really like how both ginko and tanyuu can both empathize with kumado, despite how deeply ruined he is. The sunrise moment is where all three of them can connect: ginko and kumado both care for tanyuu in some way, tanyuu and ginko care about all mushi, even the "evil" and mishappen, ginko and kumado connect at the moment of the mushi fight in saving each other. So i think their empathy towards a man who doesn't feel anything because of how he was sacreficed to a cause is a testament to their kindness. And kindness is never wasted

What struck me most in Odoro No Michi, are the minute moments when Kumado reacts to the beautiful and positive. The smallest of mouth openings in awe. The slight widening of his eyes. Especially the sunrise, which is driven home when Ginko experiences the moment from Kumado's perspective. I would say, that Kumado realizes how he can't appreciate the sunrise in the same way as Tanyuu, and that realization of his own emptiness is what changes him. Kumado goes from empty, to depressed (embittered?), and Tanyuu notices the difference
