I think you guys might have to revisit this tier list concept after the final saga, seeing how maybe motifs being brought back up in the last 3 sagas affect your feelings of the previous ones, much like how many people's opinion on my favorite song in the musical so far, Luck Runs Out, was impacted by the events of the thunder saga

“They haven’t experienced Ruthlessness yet, they haven’t experienced a god being a problem for everyone” I understand the sentiment, but they have definitely had tales & friends & family who have gotten involved with the gods in some shape or form (especially since the gods had children like nobody’s business 😭), AND they have DEFINITELY experienced the negatives of gods being a problem for everyone, namely THE TROJAN WAR. A war which started because 1 goddess of strife wasn’t invited to a Man x Goddess wedding and pulled a Maleficent, making 3 goddesses ask 1 man who was most beautiful among them, and him choosing 1 goddess of love who as a reward KIDNAPPED A WOMAN for the man as his new bride, which then kickstarted the entire war. Even ignoring how heavily involved the gods were during the war itself with them picking sides and favorite warriors, every single man on that boat had experienced strife because the gods decided to mettle in human affairs and cause problems on purpose, pulling them from their homes to fight in a war that they were honor bound to fight, ironically because Odysseus himself made the kings swear to protect the marriage of Helen and Menelaus way back before the whole goddess fight 😭 Poor Ody is 2 for 2 on making decisions he thought would be smart and more kind and merciful, then paying the price for it

I personally dont think Odysseus' reply (his... apology) brought the tension down in an uncomfortable way. I always saw it as Odysseus trying to de-escalate the situation, and in turn, the tension kinda gets smothered. It fits what's going on. HOWEVER. the part where he goes "All I gotta do is open this bag!" DOES bother me. The delivery feels so... off? It doesnt feel as desperate as I think it needs to feel, but i cant really imagine a different way for the line to be said either. It's just... a weirdly delivered line for me personally

Agreeeed. It does feels like Odysseus is in character to me, it does feel tonally correct and consistent, *because* it feels insincere. He’s still trying to use wit to get out of this. Even in this dire, out of control situation, he’s *still* relying on wit and he’s still clinging to his pride.

If y'all haven't planned this yet, I highly suggest that while your waiting for the next saga you react to ismarus (another cut song) and the original versions of horse and the infant, just a man and full speed ahead.

I know you're right, I'm just grasping for any way they could've gotten out alive without the permanently blinding bit. What's strange is that Poly's fellow cyclopes didn't see his damaged eye when they entered? Maybe all the lights were out in the cave by then.

I mean before Polyphemus passed out he was killing Ody's men, why wouldn't he start doing that again if they stabbed him in the foot, the reason he stabbed him in the eye was so he wouldn't be able to see Ody and his men which means they could escape.

ALSO, Ody, was 100% right in hindsight if Eury had been devout and not opened the bag ... the show would have been over. Was that choice of action because Ody's response was such a shut down. *shrug*

With luck runs out, at that point the only men who were lost were from Polyphemis, to me the song should be after Ruthlessness. The timing seems off. Otherwise I love this song.

Storm was, at first, my least favorite song from Ocean saga because it felt so off. But the more I listened to it, the more it grew on me and I understood why it felt "off": because, well, it's a storm. But because I'm a big ol' music theory nerd, after I realized it was in 7/8, my appreciation grew immensely. 7/8 is a VERY hard time signature to do well, because it's two groups of 2 and a group of 3 so you (at least I) constantly feel off-balance and like you can't keep up. It's the perfect time signature for a song about a dangerous, potentially fatal, storm. I love the song now

I think that a part of why the Ody 'apology' bit of the song sounds so off, is that, at least in my eyes, Ody's language and tone aren't actually an APOLOGY. They're a JUSTIFICATION of WHY he hurt Polyphemus. He was asked/ordered to apologize by a GOD, and what did he do? Instead of HUMBLING himself and apologizing as he was told to, he let his PRIDE guide him, and he tried to JUSTIFY his actions. Human hubris at its finest.

Exactly. It wasn't even necessary to blind Polyphemus. Why couldn't they have climbed over him while he was passed out? Why couldn't they have stabbed him in the foot instead? Nope, Ody took joy in causing pain to that Cyclops. Ptooey. I know we're all in pain at the loss of human life, but don't be a sadist, dude.

I adored the tier list changes. I can't find a single 'filler song' or 'less than Gorgeous' track in EPIC. I assume Ody must keep the bag closed until they get home, then he'll pray to Aeolus to come get it? I truly don't know, but I want to! His delivery during Ruthlessness might be representing a blatant lie. He wanted to cause Polyphemus a lot of pain, and Poseidon saw through him. That 'Hi, honey!' changed my life. <3

The ensemble only appears when there isn't a diegetic source to have vocals be there. Since the ensemble is present during Odysseus sleepy scene, it's very possible he was already asleep and dreaming when he started singing. Which is why we hear the unspecified choir.
