Looking forward to this. I get to see it live in March. I'm uk we get j, witnesses. My parents are church of England vicars and my eldest great friend at primary was jw. Was funny when he took her a cofe book into school for her to borrow.

I was born into a third generation Mormon family (left in my late 20’s) and it is very much expected and even pressured upon them to go on a mission for two years from the age of 19. They or their family have to pay for it and fund it themselves. If you don’t go on a mission for any reason it becomes like a scab upon the family. My twin brother served his mission and it was really hard for him because he felt like he had to choose between that and university

Hello. I thought I’d answer your question. My dad served his mission in Germany and they did/do go door to door. In some countries they can’t do that (especially countries like Indonesia where it becomes more service based) but it depends on politics at the time.

My husband’s roommate at Harvard was a Mormon. It’s my understanding that young Mormon men are expected to do a year of missionary service.

Mortius actually gave me an interesting thought that I never contemplated. We do have Mormon churches in Germany - there was one around the corner from my college, and we would see flocks of ever changing young people in missionary get-up leave the church always around the same time. So they MUST do missionary work and go door to door, right? But I never had a hello👋🏼-incident myself (at least not in Germany, just when I lived in the US) Do they have different protocols in Europe? Or is it just rarer and I just never happened to get one?

My grandparents on my dad’s side are Jehovah Witnesses and I believe that we’ve also got a Mormon church in my hometown. I don’t know anyone who’s Mormon though.
