Well. The way you said it it felt you painted over a screenshot rather than a render. So. Yeah. The way i see it if what i understood is true you will get better at doing textures on your own and doing artistic variations of the render. But all in all anatomy and perspective are still handled by the screenshot that you're painting over. If instead the screenshot was on a different monitor and you did this all by hand without painting over it. Then yes. It is indeed helpful. 🤔

well i want accurate anatomy/perspective/ proportions etc. vibrant emotive colors and dynamic gestures so if i am getting there that is good

Well in my view it's just like most of your work in progresses and if this helps you get things done faster and have more liberty on the drawing then i suppose it's a success! If you had something else in mind and i assumed something different than what you wanted to achieve let me know.
