🕑 Added 2021-10-18 00:00:02 +0000 UTCas i was painting the gouache version of the knight something in me head clicked into place i regards to laying down color. because i have always had a hard time with color its difficult for me to articulate what happened in my head.
in all my other works i put the color down in opaque flat bases then added shadows an highlights on the one layer. in these i put down the paper texture under the line sketch then a multiply layer with the basic color "theme" then on a new multiply layer add in the rough shadows. once that is done i make multiple layers on top of the line layer and paint as if i were using traditional paint
the effect is far more pleasing to the eye i think
