Lycaon

How could Xie Caiji be this foolish? She liked and respected Jing. She knew that there was a possible threat of invasion from that other kingdom, but she thought it was a good idea to make the kingdom She lived in seem weak and unstable by trying to depose a new king that she respected just before that other kingdom sent representatives? Not complaining, she may well actually be that foolish (she wouldn't be the first noble to be like that), but wow.

Aaron

Maybe remove the second 'more'? "That cultivator friend of his had prevented more than a few more direct ploys"

Marian Ch

Yea, seems like Sen's having a special moment. He's not even making sure the people most affected by this are interested in any way.

Kenneth Dennis

None of this makes sense to me. I get he came to help Jing. But it goes against his character to ask for the house of lu. Setting up Ai as a noble? That would be like him sending her to a sect if she is a cultivator. It just doesn't fit at all in my eyes

Fantastic chapter

Den

This chapter is a gold mine of quotable paragraphs!

For ten minutes

BelligerentGnu

Good on Caiji for facing the music, at least.

Penny

Snickering while Chen reads all his names.

HighSocks

I knew I should have waited for the other parts before reading. Now I’ll be checking back constantly

Keven Leigh

Im glad it was more clean than just slaughter

Sanctum

The proclamation was a great way to let them know this was all sanctioned. Nice touch.

That's right! He would leave enemies at his back that'll come back for revenge in 100 years, or 200, or 500 - if he hasn't ascended then. If nothing else, it makes for a more interesting story. But I like what Lady Aquitaine (Codex Alera), though a villian, once said ~ She said a wise gardener gets the weeds while they are young or something to that effect. Yes, spare the children, but beware of the kind of kindness that stabs you in the back. One Shade's Rule says: "Honor is a poison the weak can't survive," (Devine Apostasy) so, I hope he's honorable, but wise. I don't want him to be one of those main characters I later have to say:"See? That was a dumb move!" Those MCs annoy me. It's just as you say, tho - Mercy to an extent. That sounds like just the right amount of mercy.

fate

Jonathan Brewster

Let’s go!! Swift change of title. Let’s hope for some mercy…. To an extent.

Thunderhoof

He’d already decided her face. He was resolve incarnate, and he was coming for them. "face"?
