Question regarding saves

Has the save points helped AT ALL?
Is it sometimes?
Does it feel at random?
Does it NEVER work?
Please let me know in the comments if this has been a persistent issue in other games, i dont have the time to try out other IFs (soon i will though, and id love recommendations!)
I'd also SUPER appreciate it if you can point to IFs that DONT HAVE THIS ISSUE.

At this point I think most IF writers should consider uploading on itch.io The IFs there can have the same look and system as the ones on COG but the saves are never broken I'll be honest, I haven't been playing any demos on cog because I can't be bothered to completely redo a playthrough.

The closest i've seen to making save points work through updates are actual coded points, like when the game gives you an option to save at the start of a chapter. And honestly i've only seen that done in the Fallen Hero and Shepherds of Haven demos. Any saves relying on the exisiting save system have always been inconsistant.
