Works for me - I love when they're playing cat-and-mouse, trying to feel the other one out. And now it's coming back to me that we had an earlier conversation about the A/B/O dynamics in your universe on The Contemplative Man. If you continue this into a third story, apologies in advance for my inevitable questions about Will's omeganess.

I can't reply to a reply on a comment, but I like what you said about the bond. And I don't think it's a bad thing that all of that isn't laid out in black and white (figuratively speaking) in the comic, because the ambiguity of their feelings for and about each other is a huge part of their dynamic, as in the show itself. You kind of have to assume that both of them are constantly feeling each other out, and that everything they say - and don't say - is a part of that.

I actually really dislike this part of the omegaverse trope, that bonds are almost some kind of mystical mental or soul connection. I like the concept of it being purely biological. In that case I think bond breaking would be more ambiguous. Hannibal is trying to scent Will to gauge his own body's reaction, which would determine if the bond still exists in his own body, but he doesn't pick anything familiar up due to Will's altered hormones; Will is truthfully fairly sure it's broken by this point, something he's probably not sure he's actually happy about, but is happy to use against Hannibal. I kind of wish I could explain all this more within the comics lol, but then there'd be pages of exposition about stuff that the characters already just KNOW, and it would be really weird...

So don't answer this one if it's spoilery, but wouldn't Hannibal be able if the bond was broken? Or is he just needling Will to be all "I know you're full of shit and you know you're full of shit, so cut the shit?" Or maybe their bond really is broken and my fangirl powers won't let me accept that! 😅
