I did think about it! I figured cops probably go through somewhat regular testing for all kinds of things? I haven't read a lot about that part of the job. But yeah, I didn't want this to become a whole plot point, but I also didn't want to ignore it, so I wanted to keep it vague but also didn't want readers to worry about it becoming a THING. Still, I will think about the phrasing and maybe I'll tweak it for the print version~

Actually, as a cop who comes into contact with blood I'd point out there's more ways than sex for him to get infected with stuff. However, I completely understand why you are doing what you are doing with the comic, and am impressed you've used condoms so carefully before now.
