I’m a little late to the party in this reaction (been “saving them up” for a binge), watching your face during that Skylar monologue at the end was worth the price of admission 100%! Excellent reaction, my man. Ps. No excuses for Skylar, just that was a rollercoaster, and I don’t think anyone was expecting that scene to go that way!

I think there are several reasons for getting rid of Gale; the main reason being that once Gale learned all of Walt's procedures and nuances, Gus could just replace Walt and Jesse with Gale, who doesn't carry all the drama. Easy enough then to (as Saul calls it) "send the boys to Belize" and run a stress free quality meth operation. The other reason is - I think Walt really has some kind of fatherly feeling for Jesse that in some ways is as strong or stronger than his relationship with Walt Jr. It ebbs and flows through the entire series.

I always thought the reason he got rid of Gail is because he literally has nothing to teach him, hes passionate about teaching, and Jessy has the willingness to learn (cooking meth at least!) I mean, Hank probably did have a personal firearm too, except he probably wouldn't of carried it alongside his service weapon and he was on his way home straight after having that taken away. As for recognising Walt being the reason that dude crawled up, Walt is the most unsuspecting person going as far as they're concerned! Think how unlikely that would be! It's more likely he just got sick of them checking in on him in their heads!
