I visited Italy when I was in the Navy in 2003. We docked in Naples which was still dirty. Some friends and I spent a day in Venice which was awesome. I thought the food was pretty good. Surprisingly the best pizza I had was in Spain.

The Paulie actor was known on the set for always spraying peopleâs mouths with breath spray before doing a scene with him. So they worked it into the script by having him spray the prostituteâs mouth with breath spray when she comes back to bed. đŹ He was also famously obsessed with his hair, and wouldnât let the hair and makeup people touch it.

Two key themes in this episode have one thing in common: people lying to themselves. First, thereâs the contrast between the reality of their reception in Naples and the guysâ romanticized expectations based on The Godfather. Paulie keeps trying to connect with local people and is dismissed, even by the hooker who couldnât care less about where his grandfather came from; but when Pussy picks them up at the airport, Paulie lies that he felt âright at homeâ in Italy. Second, Carmela is having an inner battle about divorcing Tony, but lies to herself that itâs her friendâs marriage sheâs worried about saving. âI know in the end you wonât leave him,â she says to Pussyâs wife, but sheâs talking to herself. The other self-delusion: Chris saying if he had more free time in Naples, heâd definitely go see the volcano.

The car explosion scene is my second favorite scene in Godfather. The my favorite is when Michael kills the crooked cop in the restaurant. I do rank scenes based on what's happening in the scene but more specifically how much a scene can catch me off guard and surprise me. I do not endorse blowing up women in cars IRL

Annnd we're done! Ok, first things first , Great reaction Sir! I knew you would enjoy the Italy parts. I look forward to hearing you talk about the various locations in your reactions. I've gotta agree with you, man. You've probably spent more time in Italy than I have, but of the few months I there, the food ran anywhere from "okay" to "pretty good" with a few exceptions. Honestly, the best I remember ever eating while out of the US was in Singapore. The street food scene was goddamn phenomenal, even for a good ol' boy from Kentucky like me.
