A truly wonderful episode, Emory, and once again your special consideration for your audience marks you out amongst authors, with the extremely helpful summaries of the candidates to remind us of their backgrounds. Given the way that Xu and Second Dawn delight in playing with people’s minds, Josie’s entry to the proceedings is either intriguing or it could be entirely innocent. It’s impossible to know. As for the candidates themselves, the contrasts are considerable. Adele we’ve come to know to some extent, the others less so. Liza’s rage and hostility could be an asset or a liability in any attempt to escape. Hanna seems pliable and gentle, but with untapped reserves of inner strength. Josie could be a key ally, but Holly’s arrival was always going to prove disruptive and it threw Jill completely off balance, to the extent that it could jeopardise plans for an escape, both within the group and by Emily and Josie. Anyway, at least this chapter has confirmed my long term suspicions about Xu’s would be assassin! Masterful writing, Emory.
