I woke up and when I remembered I was in Raven’s house, I groaned. Being in her body, though it was only a day, wasn’t really as annoying as knowing her dad was downstairs waiting to judge me and her, even though she wasn’t here.
But I had to go and deal with it if I wanted the chance to even get half a breakfast today. When I got up, the maids were all standing around me holding an array of colorful sundresses and telling me to pick one out.
I grabbed one and they seemed surprised; then I tossed it on the floor to walk over it as I went to Raven’s closet and got one of her nice black dresses. At this point a dress is a dress, but I now understand that her black dresses are a part of her, as well as her way to protest.
I think that’s nice, and I support that and her in this protest against the world that seems to be against her. I heard the maids gossiping and talking shit about me, and instead of ignoring them, I turned around and pulled one of my eyes down.
I mocked them for being jealous because they’re all ugly and old. They all gasped, but they sure as hell shut the fuck up after that. I nearly skipped out of the room after that from how good it felt, but I didn’t, as I was in heels and I’m still really bad at walking in them.
I went downstairs and walked right past your mother, so I have no idea if she said something to me or even looked my way. I then went to the kitchen, where your dad was sitting there silently, no newspaper, no phone.
It was quite strange. He seemed deep in thought, but I didn’t bother asking him about it. I saw there was some sort of paste on it. I asked the cook what it was, and he looked annoyed but told me it was vegan vegetable lo mein.
Considering I’ve only eaten half a plate of eggs and two salads since I became Raven, it looked quite good, and I wanted to eat it right away, but I was still riding the high of telling the maids off, so I decided to keep it going.
I walked over to the cabinets and started to look through them. I could feel both the chef and Raven’s father watching me, probably curious as to what I was doing. I kept looking until I found a storage container. I then went and found a fork, and while I was in there, I grabbed a spoon.
I walked over to the fridge and then opened it. I wasn’t sure what I was looking for but I ended up finding some yogurt in the fridge, which seemed like it would be a good breakfast. Now with all that in my hands, I went over to the table and packed the food the chef made.
With it packed, I had lunch for today, and I was ready to leave. I took my lunch and my yogurt and went to leave the kitchen. Raven’s dad said the name Raelynn, which was Raven’s original name, and I did stop for a moment.
I turned my head slightly and he seemed like he wanted to say something but I didn’t give him the chance. In as serious of a tone as I could muster, I told him her name was Raven, and I know I’m not her, but I won’t answer to her dead name as long as I am in her body.
I then walked out of the room and went to school. The rest of the day was much like the first, getting bullied, but somehow getting to sit in the cafeteria and eat the meal I proudly took with me made up for it.
Later on I was sitting in Raven’s room eating yet another salad when I decided I had to end this. Raven didn’t deserve this. So I made a list. The maids, the chef, her parents, the butler, and finally the cafeteria.
I needed to do something with all of them. “With that decided, I came to day three, where I started with the gossiping maids and the angry chef. I once again woke up and found them around me holding the girliest and most colorful clothes they could find.
I also noticed a lock on Raven’s closet, so they thought they could lock me out of Raven’s actual wardrobe. I was going to be annoyed but then I smiled. I took all the clothes from them and told them I’d look through them.
I then walked to the smaller unlocked closet that was filled with more clothes like this that the maids clearly tried to get Raven to wear. I saw a bag used for storing laundry until it’s cleaned and grabbed it. I then took every piece of colorful clothing, which was the whole closet and overstuffed the bag.
The maids watched me struggle a bit to drag the bag while still in my nightgown. I dragged the bag all the way downstairs and let go. Raven’s mother was already gone, and today her father wasn’t here, and what a surprise—no master means Raven doesn’t get breakfast.
I wasn’t dealing with that yet; instead, I went to look around the kitchen and found a lighter used for outdoor grills. I take it and return to the bag of clothes. The maids were all over the stairs gossiping about me but not having any idea what I was doing.
They thought I was going to get the clothes muddy and make them have to work harder to clean them, which made me smile. I couldn't wait to see their faces in a moment. I dragged the bag outside and tossed it on the driveway.
I then set the bag on fire and watched as large, beautiful flames erupted from the once colorful clothing. The maids all gasped and started to panic. I smiled and simply turned around, walked inside, and locked them out.
If that doesn’t send them a message, I don’t know what will. Now I was on to my next target. I walked into the kitchen to find him in there, even though moments ago he was nowhere to be seen. He looks at me and rolls his eyes.
He hated Raven with a passion and I had no idea why, and I’m sure I’ll never figure it out, but he needed to go. So I took Raven’s phone and set it up in the kitchen, somewhere it could see and hear everything but remain out of sight.
I then proceeded to the fridge. I opened it and started to look through it for something for breakfast and to take to lunch. I found a bunch of fresh fruit and thought that I could make a nice fruit salad for breakfast and perhaps take some for lunch, so I only had to make one thing.
I went to pull the fruit out when suddenly there was a hand on my shoulder and I found myself being thrown to the ground. The fridge door was then violently slammed and standing above me waving a knife was a very angry chef.
He started yelling at me about being in his kitchen and touching his food. He called me many things, a spoiled little brat among them. Telling me that he gets to decide when and how much I get to eat, and if I even get to finish my food.
He then yelled that he already makes me stupid vegetarian meals and that I should be grateful for that, yet I always complain that salad for most meals sucks. I’ll admit, I wasn’t expecting him to have a knife, and while it will make my video work better, I was scared shitless because of it.
Though I was scared, I managed to ask in a shaken tone what I was supposed to do without breakfast and lunch. He laughed and said maybe I should do the world a favor and starve so that way everyone would be happier.
He then thankfully settled down and told me to leave as he walked away. I took a deep breath and stood up, and as I did, I noticed he had dropped his wallet, and in it was a couple hundred bucks. I smiled and slipped it into my nightgown before fully getting up so the camera wouldn’t see it.
I then grabbed my phone and ran upstairs. I took the money out of the wallet and tossed it on the bed. I then went over to my closet and looked at the lock. It was a combination lock and a very cheap one. Even a small girl without much muscle or energy, thanks to undereating, was able to break it.
I got inside Raven’s closet, got a nice dress to wear and got myself ready for school without any help from the maids. I grabbed my bag, the money I got from the chef and his wallet and then left to head to school.
As I walked by the big pile of burning clothing, I tossed the chef's wallet on the pile and smiled at the maids. I told them that the clothes look much nicer now that they’re black. I then laughed as I walked away from them.
I stopped by a place and picked myself up some breakfast and something to eat for lunch on the chef's dime, of course, which made them taste so much better. I had to deal with the bullies again that day, but I stayed calm; their time was coming soon.
“After school that day I got dinner with the money from the chef. I figured I’d probably get nothing from him after pissing him off today and if I did, it would only be a salad. I then returned home, and surprisingly no one was home. Not your parents, not the annoying maids, or the crazy chef. Not a single person but me and your diary. It was a bit unsettling.”

Hmmmm, in terms of it being one side of the story, you are sort of right, but if it were only things like ignoring her or not really showing interest in her and her hobbies, I could agree, but the things the new Raven has seen in her short time as Raven show it's not minor stuff. It's abuse, pure and simple. From the maids talking badly about her and trying to force her into things she doesn't like, the chef grabbing her and tossing her around while also purposely making sure she was underfed, and her parents, who just straight out neglected her and only paid attention to her to make her feel ashamed of herself. NO ONE, and I mean no one, deserves to be treated like that. Unfortunately, the story shows us that Raven has been treated like this for so long that she likely doesn't even fully realize how bad it is and doesn't have it in her to stand up and try and stop it, but when someone else takes over for her, someone who was never treated like that, they knew it right away and they weren't going to stand for it. The fire may have been a bit crazy, but it was a powerful message. One part being that she was standing up for Raven by getting rid of the clothes she'd ever wear, and the second being that she wanted to show the maids they no longer had power over Raven. I think it was well needed.

after all, the rule "an eye for an eye, an eye for an eye" exists for a reason and you have every right to treat the world the way it treats you... what am I getting at? I'm getting at the fact that I think the new Raven is doing absolutely the right thing!... maybe her actions are abrupt, maybe they started acting too quickly, maybe her actions are a bit excessive, but overall I think she's doing the right thing!... although (this only occurred to me now) we only see one side's version... maybe the way Raven is treated by those around her has some reasons that we don't know about... but overall I think the new Raven is doing the right thing!
