I yelled to the blue-haired man to run, that she was a demon and likely powerful. The blue-haired man just smiled at me and said he wouldn’t abandon his goddess or the good people of his village, as they were all his home.
He pointed his sword at the demon and told it to leave or it would die. The demon laughed and said it would love to see him try. She then summoned an axe and pointed it back at him. She then smiled before quickly swinging at him.
I gasped, thinking he lost his head, but somehow he managed to dodge it. He then quickly went in for his own attack, cutting the demon on the thigh. I lift my hands into the air and cheer for the hero, but my cheers quickly sour when the demon heals herself in an instant.
She smiles and says basic human weapons barely leave a scratch, and with the healing rate of demons, they might as well be useless. The hero seemed shocked, and the demon took advantage of that and grabbed him by the head.
She lifted him up into the air, then she brought her axe close to his waist. She laughed as she said she was going to cut him slowly and watch as he bled out. When I heard that, I knew I had to do something; I knew that I could do something.
My power activated, and I felt myself connect to the hero, and with it, I felt my power wrapping around him like a blanket, or better yet, a shield. So when the demon's axe pressed against his waist, it didn’t cut him.
However, instead, it cut me. I felt the pain imminently and looked at my side, and sure enough, it was bleeding right where the hero would have been cut. As much as it hurt, it was okay; I was protecting him, and that was all that mattered.
I told the hero I had blessed him, making his defense and offense stronger. I then smiled as I told him to beat her. The hero smiled and took his sword and swung it, cutting the demon's stomach. The demon dropped him, and he jumped backward.
The demon then looked down at herself with a smirk. She asked him if he had already forgotten that she healed quickly, but then as she looked at herself, we could see she was starting to get concerned. Her wound wasn’t healing this time.
The demon looked up and said this shouldn’t be possible, that there was no goddess in this world anymore. She then looked at me and looked horrified. She stepped back and was mumbling something about me, and I could sense the fear in her heart.
I could tell she wanted to turn tail and run away, but as there was no portal to her realm open, it seemed her coming here was a one-way trip. She gripped her axe tighter and seemed to commit to her assault on our world.
She tried to charge at me, saying she’d kill me, but the hero stepped between us and blocked her axe with his sword. Her strength vastly outmatched his, and without my blessing protecting him, she would have just broken both his arms.
So it was a good thing he had it, but also not too great for me, as my arms were the ones that broke in place of his. I wanted to scream from the pain, but I knew if I did, the hero would know what I was doing, and he wouldn’t be able to fight her because he would be too worried about hurting me.
So I bit my tongue and held strong, hoping the hero would win. The hero pushed back the demon and swung his sword low, cutting both of her legs. The demon screamed out in pain like I had wanted to, and her blood shot out all over the hero.
She cursed him out and swore to kill us both. She then began to swing her axe around erratically, hoping to hit him, which she did several times, once in the arm, once in the back, and a third time in the stomach, but none of her attacks left a mark on her.
He also managed to hit her a few times. One cut on each arm, another in the stomach, and one on her face. Now bleeding profusely and not having a way to close her wounds thanks to my blessing empowering the hero's attacks, the demon was losing too much blood and wobbling around.
She held her face with one hand and swung her axe pathically towards the hero, but her strength was all but gone, and her axe flew out of her hands after her swing. She looked at the hero with a look of shock and started stepping back and yelling at him to stay away.
The hero readied his weapon and started to charge at her to finish her off, I assume, which should have been good. If she was gone, this world would be safe for now, but the look on her face, the horror, the regret… I just couldn’t let him do it.
I called out to him to stop, which he did, although he was a bit confused. I told him I knew it was crazy, but I wanted him to let her go. Both the hero and the demon looked at me like I was crazy, but the hero put his sword away and said he would do as I wished.
He then looked at the demon and told her it was her lucky day; the new goddess had spared her, for what purpose he had no idea, but he hoped she’d use her second chance to reflect and never come back here.
The demon laughed nervously and said we were crazy. She then turned around and started to limp away, leaving a trail of blood behind. Once she was out of sight and her presence was gone, the hero turned toward me and was about to celebrate, but he looked shocked when he saw me.
He ran over to me just as my injuries were catching up to me. I started to fall, but he caught me and brought me safely to the ground. He seemed worried and asked me what had happened. I smiled and told him what I had done and agreed when he said that was a bad plan.
He begged me not to die, as the world just got their goddess back; it was far too soon for it to lose her again, especially in such uncertain times. His tears dripped down his face and landed on mine, and I could feel his sadness, his genuine concern, and his care for me.
I reached my hand up to his face and moved the tears away and told him it would be alright. I was drying today. I then closed my eyes and felt my power flowing throughout my body, all towards the places I was injured.
My wounds quickly healed themselves, and the blood that had come out turned to light and vanished. I opened my eyes and told the hero to look, that my wounds were gone. He looked down, and I felt the joy explode in his heart.
He hugged me tightly and said he was so glad I was alright. He then said he was so worried for me and that he wouldn’t be able to beat the demon. I chuck and tell him I was worried as well, but he turned out to be a fine hero, one I could trust to protect the village.
He smiled and said it was his honor to be its hero and to protect it in my name. He swore to protect it with his life should it come to that. I smiled hearing that; I was glad to know the village would be safe, as I knew it would need him while I was gone.
I didn’t have nearly enough energy to do all that, and now my body was exhausted, and there was no way I was making it back to the village to regain some energy with the priest. So I once again found myself going to sleep, a sleep that I knew would only be a moment for me but decades for everyone else.
Goddess of a New Realm: Pt5
After the battle with the demon, I once again fell into a deep sleep. Even though it passed in the blink of an eye, I knew right away a large amount of time had passed since I watched the hero beat the demon.
When I opened my eyes, I sort of expected to be inside my room from before, but perhaps a bit different from the time that had passed; however, I was in some place I had never seen before. It was a large room with the walls made of stone and fancy stained glass windows.
I sit up and feel the silkiest blanket I had ever felt fall from my chest. I look down and then around and find I was sleeping on a massive bed, one so soft it felt more like I was floating on a cloud. It was pretty nice, and it seems the villagers have treated my body well in my absence.
I got myself out of bed and walked over to one of the windows. The bottoms were made of clear glass, so it was quite easy to see out of them. I expected to see a more developed version of the town I had left, but it was so much more than that.
Not only did I seem to be in a massive building, like some sort of monastery perhaps, but there were now nearly ten times as many houses, a ton of new shops, farms with crops and animals, and a massive stone wall with towers wrapped around everything.
It was a completely different place, which was amazing to see, but I knew right away that more than fifteen years had passed. I have no idea how many passed, thirty, forty? The thought of it had me excited and saddened.
I was excited to see the world I was helping flourish and see all the new things they created on their own, to see how they grew. On the other hand, I know that the people I left all that time ago were older if not gone now, and the thought of never seeing them again… Well, I missed them already…
I guess it’s a part of my job as goddess, not one I think I’ll ever like, but I’ll take joy in knowing they got to live. As I was standing there looking out over the town, I suddenly heard something smash on the floor followed by a gasp.
I turn around to see a woman, and suddenly I get a feeling of déjà vu. This woman looked a lot like the priest I had slept with before going to confront the demon, although she was dressed much differently than him; perhaps the robes changed during my sleep.
I turn towards her and smile. I then say it seems it’s been awhile since I was last awake. She seems super thrilled to see me and tells me that was true; nearly fifty years had passed since I watched the hero fight the demon.
After I fell back asleep, they took me home and laid me down to rest. They then went about life expanding and growing while protecting my body and fighting off monsters from the demon realm. As time went on, they built more and more, including the monastery I was in.
The head priest even worked towards expanding my followers. He took in new people who wanted to devote themselves fully to me, and using his connection with me, he connected them, and now I have nearly a hundred devoted followers here in the monastery.
It was good, though; that meant I had plenty of people to draw energy from should something bad come up again. The last thing I want to do is sleep for a long time again, but if it means saving everyone, I will.
The woman, or I guess I should say priestess, said she had to go tell everyone I was awake. I asked her to wait and said we could tell everyone later. I wanted to take a bit to adjust before people came and overwhelmed me.
She nodded and said she understood and asked me if there was anything I could do to help. I thought about it and said there was. I asked her if she knew the head priest from before I fell asleep. She nodded and confirmed what I had expected. He was her grandfather.
I asked her if he was still alive and doing well. She nodded again and said he was alive and well and enjoying a peaceful life here. She then admitted he doesn’t do much these days as he’s old and basically retired.
I smiled, knowing he was alive was great news, but again I found myself disappointed. It’s a bit weird, but I was hoping he’d be able to… sleep with me again… But if he’s old, it might not be the best thing to do since having sex would suck his energy out, and at that age could kill him.
The priestess noticed I looked bummed out and asked me if I wanted her to go get him. I shook my head and said no, that I’d go see him later. She nodded and continued to look at me; she then asked again what was troubling me.

She pouted and said she could and that not even giving her a chance wasn’t fair. I’ll admit she was right, but it felt a bit awkward. I think about it for a minute and tell her that her grandfather had shown me something all those years ago, something I really liked doing.

You know, I really liked this story and there are many reasons for this, but let's go through all the details that caught my attention, so firstly, the blessing imposed by the goddess... this is perhaps the only thing in the whole story that I can dig into and even then only conditionally since I doubt that truly strong gods literally sacrifice themselves in order to protect their followers, but in this case this can be explained by the fact that our goddess is still too young and weak, perhaps in a couple of hundred years she will master truly divine invulnerability, but for now we will have to make do with what we have, secondly, her decision to let go of that demon girl... I can find arguments both for and against this decision, but this is already something on the verge of philosophy, so I suggest accepting as a given the fact that this happened and expect the consequences of this decision, and there will definitely be consequences here... in the worst case, our goddess will have a new very strong enemy, and in the best case, a very unusual ally... and yes, you can congratulate the goddess on the fact that she herself, without expecting it, created a new order of paladins in the ranks of her faith... we go further and here we see the personification of the phrase "it's hard to be a god" because here you showed us the main disadvantage of her divinity... time has no power over her but alas, she herself also has no power over time... time goes around her but only she herself does not age and does not forget... now she is a young goddess but what will happen in at least 500 years? when not only everyone she knew will die but also their distant descendants and even the names of her friends will disappear from history... immortality is creepy... however, as a goddess she has a chance to turn back time for her friends but what consequences will this entail?... and finally, the most important thing that especially captured me is the super good 6th part, it is definitely top because 2 girls are always wonderful especially when one of them is not very experienced in such things!
