I don't like identity death as well, but there will be some mental manipulation. The way these are supposed to work in my mind is "Damn I know I'm wearing heels, and I don't like it, but they do feel surprisingly comfortable and it is surprisingly easy." And the opposite while wearing anything flat: "Huh, this is weird, walking feels wrong... almost like these shoes are throwing my balance off... why does it feel easier tip-toeing??". Nothing in-your-face like "Oh my god I want to buy a new dress right now."

The preference thing is the scary one. Not the biggest fan of it. Forced mind changes aren’t that fun to read imo. It feels like character death or partial character death. Although, if the changes come into effect where she unconsciously goes for these new preferences, only to snap out of it after putting them on, then that’s fine.
