The heirats are the arm foldy things they do instead of bowing

Marriage is an act of heresy? Quite the grim outlook you've got there :D

Narf

No, there is only one magic isekai truck. But he's like Santa, he can be everywhere at once, but can only be seen once by a person at a time.

Dominic Corbin

I wonder if it can be unsummoned, or if Seiji can create a fleet of delivery trucks. All in due time...

Dominic Corbin

I took it to mean an individual "act of heresy". In context I assume "Rest in peace" is a common benediction for when some one dies (as in our world of course), and Pashlyn's position of priest gives her the right to modify it as she does here without reprisal from the church.

"Don't they have to move that barricade before the losers can get in and go kill the Goblin King?" It's a summoned item. Unsummon, go past barricade, re-summon. But yeah, getting in on this side is kinda pointless and was really just a tiny "showtime" moment.

Too Much Sanity May Be Madness

Don't they have to move that barricade before the losers can get in and go kill the Goblin King? You know what the saddest thing about Flaethwyn is? The only reason that there's a chance that she's right about the possibility of Yoshi & co. leaving her is that it's a self-fulfilling prophecy. If she finally stopped listening to her mother's advice and showed the people she cared for that she was hurting and scared, she'd bind them to her more strongly. Instead, she's channelling that pain and fear into anger and lashing out, and that is the only reason there's a risk that she might drive them away.

Sounds like Seiji is going to be pretty OK with the truck after all

Sounds good man. Great chapter! I'm really enjoying this story and I want to let you know that it legitimately makes me feel better about things in reality to a degree, kind of like it's cathartic. Even if it turns sour, just knowing that this is meant to be a more hopeful story actually makes me feel really good about everything, and seeing these characters try and do what's right even in the nightmare that is this land does really give all the good feels for me.

Arillius

To be honest, I do feel a lot of sympathy and hope for her. She's a spoiled brat (who might have been in a subjectively bad position within her family and politics but was objectively in a very good, wealthy, cushy and privileged positioned and has no idea what true hardship really is) surrounded by friends who will like her a lot more after she has her dramatic break down and they don't abandon her. Once that happens she can start to learn that she's not alone and start to learn empathy. It'll be a long road, but it's a classic, and the sad part is that it is a very real mentality a lot of rich folk suffer right now so it's not even a cliche so much as 'too real'. The only cliche part about it is that she's a rich person that might actually learn to be empathetic but I'm kind of rooting for her. Or she's going to turn traitor out of fear and join with some other church power, but she could have done that at any time so I think that's less likely.

Very fun chapter, absolutely loved it. “Rest in puree, Hoy of Kzidnak.” *snorts* "heirat of benediction" I'm guessing that means some sort of gesture? Because I tried to look this up, and Merriam-Webster, Wiktionary and even Urban Dictionary don't know this word. The only hit I got was the German word for "marriage" which I don't think fits here.

Narf

I don't feel sorry for her in the least. She's just a horrible person, fullstop. Yes, she grew up in an environment where Apartheid and her own "natural" superiority were ingrained in her from the day of her birth, but that excuse only goes so far. And it's not like only the lowborn think she's trash - absolutely everyone who has to spend ten minutes in her presence ends up hating her guts. Even Pashilyn appears more like a very skilled handler with a shitty job (her) assigned than her friend. And if even that doesn't tip her off that maybe she's the issue, not everyone else, then that is entirely on her. At some point of age and life experience, a basic amount of brain activity can be expected out of anyone, and if that doesn't occur, then that's on them. And Flaethwyn is well past that point and shows not even the slightest neuron activity.

“Actually,” Yoshi said, “no disrespect to our culture, but I just need to hear it.” Given that he’s eschewing the typical goblin contract, I think that’s no disrespect to *your* culture.

I do feel sorry for Flaethwyn I get where she's coming from and I understand why she lashes out the way she does. But she's such an asshole that it's hard to remember she's terrified and thinking inside her box is her comfort.

Wolfkit

Well, now that we've gotten a proper glimpse at Flaethwyn's Leaning Tower of Issues, I almost feel sorry for her. Almost, because I don't like her anywhere near well enough to be willing to get close enough to risk either having it land on me or being the one responsible for knocking out over.

Thank you for the chapter! The absolute maniacal laughter I had no control over was much appreciated.

Sorry for being late again. But! Hopefully that's the streak broken. I've got a day to rest up before I gotta write the next one, and I already have a solid outline for it so it shouldn't be too hard. Barring further problems, Tuesday's chapter should be out on time.
