A later chapter goes into more detail on how they managed to 'win', despite the strong enemy. To be honest, the novel has been very negative in Book 6, where I threw every threat I could think of to keep things tense. By now, Corco's advantage (at least regionally in Medala) is so large that he really shouldn't struggle that much any more, so there will be a bunch of chapters with a more relaxed pace, until the next threat is built up. Also, all the betrayals and assassinations were getting predictable, I think. ;-)

Agreed with Zdenek on the surprising amount of positivity. I would think that there may one failed "mission" when facing religious zealot warriors. The Southern Kingdom has always been good at intelligence and Corco's inventions have undoubtedly only helped, but this is more of a special forces kind of thing in my opinion and not just intelligence gathering. Regardless the chapter does well in highlighting the Southern Kingdom's superiority in this field if it can muster this kind of force in the Northern Capital. It seems I underestimated the Ghosts.

Well, she has her reasons. More of them to be explained in a soon upcoming chapter, so I will leave out the details here. ;)

What does Antaya think about Rubria? Professionally, it's pretty advantageous to have an asset like him so eager to become intimate with her. Personally, I doubt she'd be very interested. His level of attraction to her might be appealing. I'm not sure how she feels about her deceased husband. It has been a while, but I suppose it's a matter of personal feeling. There's also quite an age difference here. Then there are her children, and the thought of having to explain the situation to them. And also there's Rubria himself, who isn't that stand up of a guy. I'm remembering some kidnapping esque things he did. Why's she trying to involve Inti with this guy? Maybe there's a cultural thing I don't get, and the things I would see as problems aren't problems for the characters.

Zdenek Havlik

This chapter is surprisingly positive, considering how in the past similar meeting was in fact a trap that killed Green King. And there is also the triumvirate solution. Are you mellowing out or should I wait for the other shoe to drop?
