The great sequence in this episode where we see everyone's plans and how they fail makes me think of Rashomon, even if it's imagination rather than differing memories

The style of the show was very influenced by the 1963 Toei Douga film Wanpaku Oji no Orochi Taiji, also known as The Little Prince and the Eight Headed Dragon (<a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lvL-75lziBI)," rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lvL-75lziBI</a> ) especially in the solid color, no-outline character design. The film was also a major influence on The Wind Waker. All the '50s-60s Toei Douga films are interesting in just how much they don't look like what most people now think of as anime. Plus, they're all just really good movies.
