C13 AEGIS v1.3X early access
🕑 Added 2023-06-22 14:40:54 +0000 UTCOk this was a deeper rabbit hole than i anticipated. Massive thanks to SLXCK for showing me how to fake volumetric lighting and giving me some base settings and concepts to work off of. Of course, things don't often transplant cleanly, and this was one of those cases. While the SKY approach to light is truly amazing, it has a tendency to really show the issues that AC content might inherently have. In my case, combined with the way i build the rest of the image, the new lighting model exacerbated the light leaking in tunnels on SRP. So, i had to reconfigure the system in a way where it's fairly stable and works for C13 AEGIS and i think that worked out well. Furthermore, the new approach broke a good portion of the auto exposure logic which had to be readjusted, and that suddenly necessitated tone mapping changes as well. Long story short, I think the new visuals are worth it, but I'll let you be the judge. Oh also major thanks to cnrbanal who reminded me that yebis exposure breaks glare. That had to be re-written as well. Without further ado, changelog:
- new lighting subsystem inspired by SKY, to try and fake the volumetric bouncing of light
- new tonemapping curves for day and night
- new glare configuration
- new AE configuration and logic adjustment
- many sky lighting tweaks
- some CG adjustments to mitigate the last remnants of pop off/pop on
- new colour presets
- adjusted saturation progression
Ok so a few things came up with 1.30 internally that warranted further tweaks, fixes and system reworkings:
- AE reworking with better lowlight boost
- Reflections level modulation based on weather and exposure
- Skydome brightness modulation
- Godrays are back
- Saturation adjustment for more punchy look
- High sat toggle now works with new tonemapping as well
- Minor tone mapping adjustments
- Fixed missing glare
As such 1.30 will not be public, but hey here's 1.32.
