In my search for more balance i've gone back to square one more times than i'd like to recount. But aside from playing with tonemapping i've also gone and added some sky light and sky dome modulations, to better fit the overall image, and increase that "being under the sky" feeling. Shout out to SLXCK, whose work with SKY keeps reminding me that the sky does actually influence the light you see outside every day. With all that said, i believe we're at an interesting point right now, so it feels like an appropriate version to share. So what has been done:
- Minor tonemapping readjustment for less black crush
- lowered glare threshold and made it dynamic
- moved bloom gamma and some other dependencies from ambient luminance to normalised exposure - discovered Pure does some temporary modulation as a workaround for some tracks having bad VAO, so it's better to be tied to AE for now.
- adjusted world lights and reflections again
- made sky influenced light and reflections dynamic and responsive.
- added preliminary HDR support - probably looks like poop
- lowered base daytime brightness - lmk if it's too dark, or rather if you can't tune it out with the calibration sliders
- renamed the calibration sliders to make more sense with what they actually do.
